Flying Unicorn Mixed Media Card for Cardabilities!

Guess What?!

I have a featured layout spot on the Sketchabilities blog!!

Woot!

Ok, so the sister site to Sketchabilities, is Cardabilities, and this post is designated for my entry into that challenge!

The sketch for this challenge is:

Now, my take on the sketch used pretty much only things that came from the Flying Unicorn September kit that I'm *still* going through!! Phew!

I was feeling bold, so I decided to record myself making the card and will post the video to my process here once it has been uploaded!

And now for the pictures!!

Yay for pictures, but I really hope you also enjoy the video as well!!

Thanks so much for dropping by!

This card is just so... Retro... :)

Yes, this is definitely a more simple card, but I think it is still cute!

This card was made based on the recent sketch challenge posted on the Retro Sketches blog.

I really can't get enough of the way retro sketches shows their sketches. The hand drawn vibe will never get old (at least, not to me). So I, once again, dipped into my Flying Unicorn September kit to make this card.

I used some of the Prima flowers we received as the embellishment cluster, and used two stickers, layered upon one another for the sentiment.  You may also notice that within the flower cluster, I added a metal lock charm to add some pizzazz to the otherwise "naked" area below the flowers.

Thanks so much for taking the time to drop by and see what I've been up to!

It is greatly appreciated!!!

Corrugated Paper Based Card

One of the items that came in the September Flying Unicorn kit is a 12x12 sheet of corrugated paper. I really like using corrugated paper as card bases as it provides so much more weight and dimension over regular heavy-weight cardstock.

This card was made using the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.

As you can see, the image on the sketch shows a tag, but I substituted the tag for a sticker from the sticker sheet we got in the September kit, raised on a couple layers of chipboard. It's wonderfully simple; And although I'm thinking I want to add a bit more "sparkle and shine" to the card, I'm thinking it may also glam it up a bit too much...

Thanks so much for dropping in and checking out my card!

Clean and Simple Makes for Easy Card Making!

In trying to use up my Flying Unicorn September kit, and so this is a card that I made for the recent CAS(E) this Sketch challenge!

I fussy cut one of the smaller journalling cards from the kit in order to have the flowers in the vase as the side image to the sentiment.  I really like how simple this card was too make! I think the most time was spent fussy cutting the flowers! :P

Thanks for dropping by to check out my card!

Possibilities with Cardabilities!

Yes, I know the title is a little bit cheesy, but it's true!

I really enjoyed the sketch over at the Cardabilities blog for this month:

My take on the sketch went a little something like this:

You may or may not recognize the products used, but they are products that were in the Flying Unicorn September kit!  I'm really enjoying the Flying Unicorn kit and have almost finished going through all the papers... And you still end up with so much product left over! Such a great kit!

Prima Stationer's Desk Layout for Sketchabilities!

Hey everyone!

This is my 200th blog post!!  Yay!  Ok, continuing on to the content...

This post is all about shoes!!  Well, the layout is all about shoes, the post is about the layout that's about the shoes. Lol

Anyway, I created this layout based on the Sketchabilities sketch #123 that was posted just today! Let's just say that I've been multi-tasking all day and now that the creative part of my day is done, it's time for the working part to start. :P

The sketch was all fancy like, and I really liked it because of that. :)  I actually liked it so much that I created a process video for the layout I made and showed off my method of layering while working with this sketch on my computer screen!

Images of the layout are below, but I would really love it if you watch the video too. I killed my camera battery (from a full charge) in order to make it! The layout took me about an hour and 15 minutes to complete.

Thank you so very much for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed the video AND the images this time around!

Mixed Media Canvas for Flying Unicorn

It's not often that I post a blog post with a creation that isn't required for a challenge, however I felt the need to post this one because it's not something I do often (yet?).

This is an altered canvas that I created based on the Mojo Monday sketch that was posted over on the Flying Unicorn forums.

I also entered this creation into the Mid-month Mxed Media challenge also over on the Flying Unicorn forums.

I created this canvas using the products in the Mixed Art kit from the Flying Unicorn store!  I am So. Happy. with the way it turned out, and it is currently hanging on the wall  in my bedroom. :)

Mother Nature and her Beauty

This layout was created based on the sketch that can be found over on the Creative Scrappers blog (#277)!

I had a photo that I found to be very powerful to me... It's a photo of how "bright" the future can be even though you may be currently in a state of darkness. I took this photo on my old phone while I was in a car, going through a storm.  You could see far enough in the distance to where the rain let up and the sun came back out.  I thought the image was super cool.

I used my Flying Unicorn September kit to create this layout. Some of the light blue "papers" you'll see in the background are actually pieces of the packaging from the Prima flowers that came in the kit. Lol.

Thank you so much for dropping by!

Mojo Monday on a Thursday

The Mojo Monday sketch for this week has a lot of layers... I'm not sure I dig the card I ended up with now that I'm looking at it the next day, but it'll probably grow on me. Lol

My version...

Meh... It just doesn't speak to me... Ah well, sometimes our creations are like that! I can't dwell on it!

Thanks for meh-ing with me. :P

Viva La Verve September Week 1

This sketch was a lot of fun - I really enjoyed the layering it included and thought it to be a good sketch to stick to as close as possible.  The original challenge post can be found here.

I didn't do any stamping on this card, but I used a patterned paper that looked like it was stamped all over for the main focal part of the card. I really liked this patterned paper because the sentiments on it could really turn this card into a good card for a variety of occasions.

Thanks for dropping to check out my take on this sketch! I had a lot of fun with it!!

Colorful Creations is Having a DT Call!!!

... And I'm going in head first! LOL

Not that I'm stalking the DT Calls being posted, but I just happened upon the DT call posted over at the Colorful Creations blog today!

Part of the entry was to create a blog post with a layout made using the sketch posted on their blog! I spent the evening after work, before dinner, working on it. At first when I was about to post it, I realized, I had forgotten my title. Silly me! But I went and fixed that up before posting it to my blog. :)

Seems pretty straightforward so far right?  Except that you had to make a layout using fall colours. :) Now, I'm not a colour theory expert or anything, but don't you think that the Prima PPP challenge this month calls for fall colours??

Yeah, so it's not just me, right? I thought so!!  In any case, I've included the layout and some close-up shots of the layout as well!  I hope you all enjoy!!

You may notice, the journaling I did is mostly lyrics to the song Razzle Dazzle, which is the part in the movie (Chicago), from which this photo was taken. I used the Prima Time Traveler's collection to create this layout, in addition to some Distress Paints, Tsukineko Brilliance inks and some lace that I had on my desk. :)

I greatly appreciate you stopping by to check out my work, and I hope to see you back again soon!

BoBunny has challenges again!

And as an entry into the first BoBunny challenge in a long time, I've used the BoBunny Enchanted garden collection to get the ball rolling!

First up, the sketch!

Now these circles made me cringe... I really don't like circles. I don't know why, but as a main focal point, circles do not work with me. But anyway, I tried to get over it to work with this sketch...

I had to grunge up the paper a bit with stamps and stencils to make it more along my style, but I think I made it work...

In hindsight, I would have made the word "Park" in a darker colour, but on paper it looks O.K... for now. :P

Thanks for stopping by!

Our Forgotten Card!

So I seemed to have forgotten to submit a card to a card challenge I planned to enter! With so many new ventures as of late, I can't remember what I uploaded to the blog or what I have still saved as a draft!

Back to business!  This card was made based on the sketch over at Our Daily Bread Designs!

(At the time of posting this, there's less than 6 hours to go before the challenge closes! Yikes! Lol)

So, I wasn't quite feeling the banners at the bottom of the sketch, because my main focal point was so large.... And I omitted it for my card. :)

Thanks so much for taking a quick peek at my card creation!

Prima BAP Sketch Challenge Entry, September 2014

Soooo, you know how you try something and then you get hooked on it and then you gotta keep doing it?

Well, I kind of am hooked on mixed media. :P

This month's Prima Build-A-Page sketch really brought that out in my layout... And my hands. Lol

I loved finally having the opportunity to combine techniques that I've tried on their own, but now can put it all together!

I"m not sure what I didn't use, but I definitely used gesso, molding paste, a semi-gloss gel, some ranger distress paints, some tsukineko brilliance ink, distress inks and even versafine inks! LOL

I super love this layout! :D

Thanks for dropping by!!
