In my last post, I shared a layout I created for a good friend of mine and her new fiancé!
That was a layout I made specifically for them in order to add into a shadow box, and hand it off as a present, never to see it again.
Thankfully, I printed two of the same photos used in that layout - One in black & white, which was used in the previous layout, and one in colour, which I used in the layout I'm about to share with you in this post!
This layout was made based on the sketch found over on the Stuck?! Sketch challenge blog!
Look at all those diagonals!!
I've been working with a lot of shapes that I would normally not even consider in recent layouts, and so I decided to pull out my very 'unused' Studio Calico kit from last month and try to put together something to go with this layout sketch AND the photo that I have on hand!
The end result went something like this:
I got to even using some mesh like trim that I've had in my stash F.O.R.E.V.E.R. as the edge trimming between the diagonals.
I EVEN GOT TO USING MY CRICUT! Yes, it seems so normal for those who use it regularly, but mine is so high up that I need a step stool to get to use it because I've been blessed with a compact form factor. LOL
In any case, I really liked how it turned out and is really making me consider using my cricut way more often now.
I hope you enjoyed the layout and we'll chat soon! :)

Once Upon a Time...
... There was a super cute couple who recently got engaged!
And no I'm not talking about me and some significant other, I'm talking about a lady & her beau that I met through mutual friends.
Although this layout is based on the Once Upon a Sketch challenge that has been posted for October, the theme of the layout was to be: The women/girls etc in our lives...
Sam is a wonderfully simple kind of lady with a lot of patience. She recently got engaged to a great guy and as a gift to them, I've made a series of layouts to celebrate their engagement and as gifts to them for their engagement present. :)
The layout for the sketch that was posted this month is:
And my take on the sketch is below...
It started out as a mixed media style of layout with masking and mists, but then I started layering and now it's a VERY dimensional somewhat mixed media layout. :)
I hope her and her new fiancé (!!!) like the series I've made them and I may post about all of them in a blog post in the near future.
Thanks so much for dropping in!

Colorful Creations is Having a DT Call!!!
... And I'm going in head first! LOL
Not that I'm stalking the DT Calls being posted, but I just happened upon the DT call posted over at the Colorful Creations blog today!
Part of the entry was to create a blog post with a layout made using the sketch posted on their blog! I spent the evening after work, before dinner, working on it. At first when I was about to post it, I realized, I had forgotten my title. Silly me! But I went and fixed that up before posting it to my blog. :)
Seems pretty straightforward so far right? Except that you had to make a layout using fall colours. :) Now, I'm not a colour theory expert or anything, but don't you think that the Prima PPP challenge this month calls for fall colours??
Yeah, so it's not just me, right? I thought so!! In any case, I've included the layout and some close-up shots of the layout as well! I hope you all enjoy!!
You may notice, the journaling I did is mostly lyrics to the song Razzle Dazzle, which is the part in the movie (Chicago), from which this photo was taken. I used the Prima Time Traveler's collection to create this layout, in addition to some Distress Paints, Tsukineko Brilliance inks and some lace that I had on my desk. :)
I greatly appreciate you stopping by to check out my work, and I hope to see you back again soon!

Three challenge entries in one!!!
I haven't combined challenge entries in a while, but this time I've made a layout for the following challenges:
For this challenge I felt prepared because this week I *just* had my selfies printed at costco as part of a collage thing I made to fit an 8 x 12 print. And these were from last month, so I'd say they're recent enough for this challenge since the goal was to celebrate your age right now. :)
This was the base of my layout, as the sketch greatly assisted in guiding me to placement of everything. :)
I really enjoyed this sketch - It felt different than any other sketch I've used!
The sketch for this challenge is as follows:
I finish off with this challenge as it gave me a reason to use up the embroidery thread that came in the grab bag from Studio Calico. :)
I used the whole length of it (1 yard, maybe?) to make a multi-layered bow, and then I finished it off by adding a star from the trim I got in the Studio Calico card making grab bag since it coordinated with my gold accenting on the layout!
Without further delay, here is my layout!! :D
This is one of my favourite mixed media layouts so far... I almost didn't go the MM route because I was trying to keep it relatively flat, but throw on some watercolours, stenciling, splatters and inking... And Ta-da!
Thanks so much for dropping by!

Life. Paper. Action! Erm, I mean Scrapbook!
So, I may just be on a mixed media roll today...
I went from not really "feeling it" this afternoon, to churning out two MM layouts...
Mojo works in such weird ways, y'know?
This layout was made using the sketch that's part of the August challenge over at Life. Paper. Scrapbook. :)
I rotated the sketch to work with my landscape photos.
My take on the rotated layout is below:
Going through this Studio Calico grab bag is going much faster than I anticipated. :P

Stuck Sketches with Mixed Media in August
So, it seems I'm fond of mixed media, as this layout is another mixed media layout.
It's of me when I used to be in fashion shows and loving it. :)
I used a crafter's workshop stencil for the background and many bits from the Studio Calico scrapbook grab bag that I got last week.
The sketch I used to direct me with this layout comes from Stuck's August First Challenge!
My take on this sketch went something like this:
I know, the picture is a tad blurry, but it was the best I could do with what I was using tonight. I think I need to set up a mini light box or something. But anyway...

In lieu of Tube Thursday...
A project is shared today instead! This means not to look out for a post on Thursday, since this is the alternative post for it. WWW Wednesday is still a go however! Moving on...
First and foremost, I do have to apologize for the very unfortunate photo of this layout. It was taken with a camera that isn't mine and, well, if it were mine, I'd try to sell it and get a different one. LOL
In any case, this is a layout entry into a few challenges this month!
The first challenge this layout is entered for is the Creative Scrapper Sketch 272 Challenge.
The challenge this month was to use no photos on your layout. This is actually something that I do pretty regularly, so there was no issue with the idea behind the concept.... My biggest challenge with this sketch was all the space in which nothing was written. :P I felt as though the bright colours of black and pink were enough on the background, but once I wrote my blurb, I felt like SOME kind of photo needed to be added in the bottom left hand side of the layout... Is it just me? Do you feel that way too? :)
The second challenge this layout is entered for is the Scrapping Everyday Miracles Challenge.
That's where I grabbed the CREATE theme from for this layout. Otherwise it would have been a bit more difficult to find something to write about. :)
The third challenge this layout is entered for is the Craft-Dee Bowz July Anything Goes Challenge.
Now I'm not a huge fan of bows, but with the layout of the sketch, and the very big amount of extra space I had, I decided to make a bow to put in the lower, right-hand corner of the layout. I used black seam binding for the bow, and I'm quite happy with the way it turned out for my first multi-eared bow. (Is that actually a thing)?
And now, onto the layout itself, in all of it poorly photographed (SORRY!) glory!
That was a lot of challenges to enter one project in, in my opinion, but every challenge played it's part, so I'm happy with it. :)

WWW Wednesday, First Edition
So, it's very difficult NOT to make mention of a fellow Canadian here.
She's such a sweetheart and does such awesome work! I hope to one day be able to set aside time to craft together so I can try to absorb some of her level of awesomeness!
Keren Tamir's blog post, Fly High- Flying Unicorn July's Your Passion Your Art Kit, has some awesome photos of her most recent work with Flying Unicorn's July Kit.
Here's a quick pic of her layout from her blog:
Like, How beautiful is that!
When I see this, I think of those wooden picnic tables that have planters down the middle of them, and I just feel like going outside and enjoying the outdoors!
I absolutely LOVE what she did with this, and I follow her posts and Youtube videos quite a bit because her style just gets me every time!
I hope you drop by her blog and show her some love!
