Graphic 45 3x3 notecard sets with coordinating boxes

It's been a long while since I've done a project share just because I completed a project, but here is one for you!!

This project is actually two projects that consist of two similar card sets with coordinating boxes & envelopes, made for a swap which I'm a part of this holiday season.

There are 6 - 3x3 notecards, 2 sets of 3 and they are shown below:

The collection I used for this notecard set is called 'Twas the Night Before Christmas from Graphic 45.

I cut the stars and snowflakes out using my Silhouette Cameo, and the frames behind the snowflakes were cut from my Cricut Create; Fancy Frames cartridge.

The coordinating boxes were made using my WRMK envelope punch board, following the Youtube tutorial found here: Make a Box with the Envelope Punch Board with Deb Valder.
I decorated the boxes to look like presents and added a piece of chipboard to the front of each one.

I also made some envelopes to go with the notecards and those are included with the sets. :)

Hopefully this got your mojo going, even if it's just a little bit.

Mixed Media Canvas for Flying Unicorn

It's not often that I post a blog post with a creation that isn't required for a challenge, however I felt the need to post this one because it's not something I do often (yet?).

This is an altered canvas that I created based on the Mojo Monday sketch that was posted over on the Flying Unicorn forums.

I also entered this creation into the Mid-month Mxed Media challenge also over on the Flying Unicorn forums.

I created this canvas using the products in the Mixed Art kit from the Flying Unicorn store!  I am So. Happy. with the way it turned out, and it is currently hanging on the wall  in my bedroom. :)

Thanks so much for dropping by!

Studio Calico Card Kit done...

I decided that, in order to keep my stash to a minimum, when it comes to my Studio Calico kits, I will be pro-active, use them up and sell what I don't use.

In respect to the card kit, this meant that since I had finished using up the cardstock bases that came with the kit to make 5 or 6 cards - I don't remember, it was time to sell it since there was no longer any cardstock for me to use up.

In the end, I used up all the wooden stars and the cardstock.

I sold the leftover patterned papers (12 sheets), the die, buttons and stamp set. I actually had some leftover ribbon as well, but I forgot to add that to the sale listing and it's already mailed. Oops!

In any case, now I'm moving on the scrapbook kit!
Hopefully I can get through the whole SB kit for Penny Arcade before the August one gets here!

Below are samples of the cards I've made using the SC card kit. :)

I also made a card front (i.e. it has no base), but I haven't taken a photo of that one yet, so it's not included. :)

Freedom Friday!!!

So, I posted a video on Youtube yesterday about re-subscribing to the Studio Calico kits for the next 12 months.

I'm going to share the reasons why I chose to do this..

I unsubscribed to the SC scrapbook kit at the end of last year because I thought the colours were bland, the embellishments were lacking and there was a lot of repetition. Since then, I've noticed that the kits are a bit more colourful, a bit more playful and have a bit more variety.

The downside to my re-subscribing is that I committed to a 12 month subscription period... I don't know if that's a good thing, or a very very bad thing, but I'm hoping it's more good than bad. :)

I posted a video of everything I got in the July Penny Arcade kit on Youtube, and I'm including it in this post as well. It's a little long of a video, but it's everything I got. :)

The second half of the year has started...

And just as fast as my mojo returned, it has now disappeared once again. LOL

I went on a great creating adventure in June, and now... not so much.

I'm thinking to start sharing inspiration I find out and about while cruising online or in my daily life so that even though I can't share my creations (since I haven't made anything new), at least I can share what I'm seeing and doing and what I find inspiring.  Hopefully I can inspire you as well!

So, first up, some crafty news - I'll be part of a youtube/blog hop at the end of this month. :)

The hop is hosted by Misty, who runs the community site Creating the Crafty Life. The CCL site is turning 3 years old, and the hop is in honour of it's 3rd anniversary. :)

As you can see, the theme of this hop is my all time favourite, Graphic 45!! :D

I'm SUPER excited for this hop, and plan to bring my A-game Graphic 45 project to the table. :) I will be having prizes for visitors to my Youtube channel as well as my blog. Stay tuned for that!

I am trying to get in the mood to enter some blog challenges this month, but it doesn't seem to be coming to me, but I'll see what kind of mojo I can muster by mid-month. ;)

Thanks for dropping by!

Featured Layout for Creative Scrappers!

So, I was just going through the regular Saturday morning look through for new blog content for the blogs in my bookmark bar, and look at what I found!

My entry into the Creative Scrappers challenge was featured mid week on their blog!  I am so honoured to have my layout chosen!!  Thank you to the kind folks over as Creative Scrappers for their awesome comments on my layout! It means more to me than I think they are aware, as I've never been featured before!

If you want to take a look at the original blog post, you can find it by clicking here!

Scrapbook Page for L P S

And no, L P S does not stand for Local Paper Society. :P

This is my entry post for the challenge over at Life. Paper. Scrapbook. :)

The sketch for June is as follows:

I liked this sketch quite a bit because I tend to be drawn to layouts with quite a bit of white space. :)

My take on the sketch is below:

I've really liked the close up shots I've been taking of my projects recently and I hope you do as well. :) It's a change for me, but I've been waking up earlier to craft more and well, the indirect sunlight coming into the room has been working well so far. :)

Hope to see you back soon!

Botanical Tea ATCs to share with you!

So, a couple weeks ago, I posted about being super lucky at winning Graphic 45's Mother's Day contest on Facebook here.

Well, I went to New York city a couple weekends ago, and when I came back, I was really hurting for lack of crafting. Don't get me wrong, NYC is a great place in which to be a tourist, but I lacked craftiness so bad, I bought a small mixed media pad, and some basic colours of paint on my second last day there. Lol
YEP, I really needed to get crafty. :P

Anyway, once I came back, I got to fussy cutting a bunch of the sheets of the pad that I had won from Graphic 45 because I thought I'd consider that pad of paper my fussy cutting pad. :) Well, if you take a look at what I won, I also won a pack of the ATC sized tags.

I love making ATCs. And with all the little fussy cut pieces, I decided to get to work on making some Botanical Tea inspired ATC cards! I also posted a photo to the Graphic 45 Facebook page, but here it is again in case, you're not a follower of theirs. :)

I had a blast making them, and I really enjoyed their shape!  I've never made an ATC with these shapes before! I think I'll be posting a video of them soon, but not sure when. If I do, I'll try to remember to link it here on this blog post. :)

Prima Marketing Winnings Part #2!!

Well, I can't really lead this post with anything but, YAY!!
My NSD winnings from the LWP (Live with Prima) shows has arrived!

I actually don't know when it got to my place since I wasn't home for a bit, but I got home and there it was!

Here is the awesomeness I received!!

Going from top left across is the tags from the "Something Blue" collection. Seems like with the tags, and the previous winning from Brit, all signs point towards me getting the Something blue collection! I've already got a head start!
The item next to the tags, is some prima twill (?) ribbon with script writing on it! I love script stamps, paper, and ribbon! So happy to have received that!
So now, on the bottom, let hand of the photo are some Jodie Lee brads! I also already had some Jodie Lee wood embellishments so now... You know.. Might need to find a way to grab the rest of THAT collection too! LOL  I love me my complete collections!!
And finally, some SUPER, AWESOME resin pieces!!!  It's the cherub fireplace resin by Ingvild Bolme! I am super excited about it because if you've been watching LWP, you'll know that when you combine these resin pieces with your colour bloom sprays, you can really have quite the awesome colouration going on!

Alright-y, well thanks for stopping by!

I'm so thankful to Prima for the goodies and make sure you guys all come join us on LWP on Tuesdays and Thursday at 2 PM and 9:30 PM respectively. :)

See you all there!

Thank you Graphic 45!!

Yay for Graphic 45 winnings! One of the companies in my top 3 paper crafting list!

I happened to have posted on their Facebook page about my mother for Mother's Day and I ended up winning some goodies!

Including:

  •  an exclusive Graphic 45 button!
  • An 8x8 paper pad from Botanical Tea
  • A pack of the flower die cut shapes for Botanical Tea
  • A pack of the chipboard #2 for Botanical Tea
  • A pack of the Large Ivory Tag Album Staples

I know the photo has quite the glare, but I literally threw everything out of the envelope onto the bed so I could take a quick pic to post to my blog!

Thank you Brit (Prima NSD winnings, Part 1)

So, this is a short and sweet post. :)

Here are my winnings from the Prima blog hop on National Scrapbooking Day!

The blog on which I won them is run by Brit Sviggum! All the way from Norway!!

This is my first time ever owning any of the Julie Nutting stamps, and I never had the opportunity to buy the Something Blue collection at the time of it's release, so I also don't have these wood embellishments!

I'm super stoked about this win, as it's my first Prima win!

Also, I labeled this post as part 1, because I *also* won a prize from participating in the classes that they hosted that day!  Just haven't received it yet. ;)

It was a good scrappy day for Kerry!

Anyway, thanks for dropping by! I really appreciate it!

A non-challenge related project share!

Yay for altering things!

I'm slightly addicted to making things not look like they were supposed to look by using paper and other mediums.

One of the projects I worked on recently was this altered cigar box! It was for a swap, so it isn't in my possession any longer, however here are the photos!

I used JUST the Prima Lifetime collection to alter this box except for some trim from my stash and I really like the way it turned out!

Why Do We Hoard Stuff And At What Point Do You Stop?

Well, well, well!
Look at this touchy subject! :P

This blog post is in response to Madame Ro's "Talk to Me" video that she uploaded today:

Well, I was going to do a video in response to this, but I thought it would be easier for me to express myself in writing, so I can clarify and add details as needed. :)

SO, Why Do We (as crafters) Hoard Stuff?

Interestingly enough, I think there's very few things that I actually buy to "hoard".  We've never had lots of space, and I used to be a sewing enthusiast before I was ever a paper crafter. I used to hoard fabric and it got out of control... So I sold bits and pieces of it until there was really not much left. I still keep fabric scraps since I use it with my paper crafting from time to time, however I don't have any large pieces left.
Thankfully, my experience with sewing and holding on to fabric I thought I would use for projects has helped keep me at bay with my paper crafting.

I think the paper related things I hoard (including Graphic 45 paper/embellishments) are likely due to their availability where I live. Having limited access to certain brands has really made it difficult to pass up on certain things unless I am 100% certain I WON'T use it. If there's any chance at all that I will use it and I know I won't find it locally, then I tend to buy it.

But one thing I can say is that once I start cutting into or using something I've hoarded, I go through it like it's nobody's business. LOL

Top 3 things I don't hoard (anymore):
- most 6x6 paper pads
- solid cardstock of any brand
- most12x12 paper pads

Top 3 things I still hoard
- Graphic 45 products (paper/embellishments/staples)
- Wooden/Metal/Chipboard embellishments
- Alterable items

At What Point Do You STOP Hoarding?

I don't think there's a point where I stop hoarding... It's always based on availability of a product. If I knew there was a G45 boutique within 2 hours of me for example, I would stop hoarding it, knowing I could make a day out of a trip to wherever I needed to go to get it.  Seeing as that isn't the case, I buy it up when I can for (typically) a decent enough price and then have it "on-hand" for when I want to use it.

I guess the answer is just that I stop hoarding, once I have the item, that I would otherwise not be able to obtain.

Are you on the verge of ending up on Hoarders?

Not even close. Although there are some people who can't believe how much stuff I have, I too know of some people of whom I can't believe they have so much stuff. LOL  My craft stuff doesn't overflow from my craft corner in the hobby room, so I'm actually doing pretty alright.

Will you ever stop hoarding?

Honestly, I have no plans to stop hoarding as long as I can use some of what I'm hoarding occasionally. I think because I do eventually use stuff that I hoard, that I'm not in a dire circumstance as to say I will stop.  I've got a boyfriend, a mother and tenants to give me a swift kick in the rear in the event that it were to get that bad anyway.

Is it hard for you to let go? If so, why?
It's hard for me to let go of things I don't think I'll be able to get back. Papers are like clothing... If I were to say, give away or sell a pair of jeans or some plain t-shirts, I wouldn't feel any particular way... However if I were to sell a t-shirt I got at a one time event that will never come around again, then yes, I'd feel a way getting rid of that shirt... Similarly, if I bought cardstock in some level of bulk and only used 1/5 of it, and then the rest was sitting there, I would have no issues giving it away or selling it... Once we go into patterned papers however, because there is a reason I like a patterned paper the way it was printed, it makes it difficult to get rid of; And of course, there are some papers that are more or less difficult to say goodbye to based on how much or little you like them. :)

In conclusion, yes, I hoard things. No, I don't hoard to the point of oblivion. No I don't think I'll stop hoarding, as my hoard seems to be quite healthy in terms of the amount of craft turnover it experiences.

Okay, well that's all for now!!

Happy New Year!

It's been a while since I posted... Over 2 months to be exact.

How about we make this year a bit better than last year?  What do you say? :)

While I have some time on my hands, let me tell you about all the crafty and perhaps not so crafty things I'm up to in 20134! (You have no idea how many times I've already seen people write 2013 when really it's 2014).

Gotta love a new year!

First off, I'm part of a bunch of swaps.... Like, a lot. I decided that not only will I create more, but I will try to show more of what I make so that you can all see what I'm doing and not just what I'm buying. LOL
Some of them include a couple altered spool swaps
Some stick pin swaps
Some Valentines Day swaps :)

I also started an 8x8 PL album for 2014 before the holidays came about, and will try to show what I do in it over the course of the year by uploading photos of my PL spreads.

My boyfriend is in the process of moving in has moved in and the house is in a bit of a disaster, however that's what happens when two people merge lives I guess.  I'm somewhat happy it officially "begins" at the start of a new year so I can have a more positive outlook on it - You know, the whole new year, new take on life thing.

Because we've merged lives, OUR (it's so hard to get used to "our" when it's been mine for so long) hobby room is FULL and it's become super hard to find a place for everything. Super. Hard. Nonetheless I've been creating to try and bring my stash under control and have stopped buying as much... Except for a few things from winter CHA. I'm only human after all. :P

Okay, so here, I leave you with the first altered spool of the month that I've completed and plan to mail out today. :)

Turned out far better than I could have anticipated! if you have any questions about it, please let me know and I'll go into more detail about it! :)

This is what I consider the 'back' of the spool

This is the 'main' view for the spool

This is the top of the spool! :D

Umm, What the Heck?!

Where have I been?!
It's been almost a whole month since I posted anything to my blog!

Oh right, I've been doing renos all around my house and then closer to the end of the month, I had to jet off to DC for a dance event!

My August Studio Calico kit is still sitting UNTOUCHED since the day I got it in and laid it out to use it...

And I've ALREADY had to snatch up my September kit!!

I foresee a power scrapping weekend coming up provided that I don't run into any voluntold type task situations.

I really need to upgrade my phone so I don't need to be actually at a computer to update my blog. This is ridiculous!

Studio Calico July kit has been officially killed

After an eventful July, this is all I have left of my July Studio Calico kit...

One full sheet that I really can't see myself using on it's own, and a bunch of scraps and stuff. :P

I didn't even dip into the clothespins since they're so chunky for layout pages, but I may turn that last sheet into a bunch of tags or something and use them that way. :)

Bunch of left over thickers & alphas, but it doesn't matter since it's all going into the stash as of today, the first of August! :D

Guest Tipster over at ScrapMuch?!

Thank you for stopping by on this extra special day!
You may or may not be aware that I'm a guest tipster over on the ScrapMuch? blog today!

I made a YouTube process video using their June kit club kit and it is being featured on their blog! Here is the written walkthrough of the process video, as I know it's quite fast and it's easy to miss things in it (for which I apologize)!

Here is a list of items I used in making this layout!
- ScrapMuch? June kit
- Medium-weight chipboard
- Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Hula Hoop)
- American Crafts Bazzill Basics black cardstock
- Scotch Quick Dry adhesive
- Liquitex Modeling Paste
- Pink Paislee Mistables Misting Mask
- Tim Holtz Tonic Paper Piercing Tool
- Tim Holtz Tonic Distress Tool
- Paper Trimmer
- Gesso
- Trim
- Flowers
- Bling

First, I created my shadow box by cutting 4 - 1.5" strips from a 12x12 piece of chipboard.

Using 8 - 1" x 12" strips of the black cardstock, I created corners for the shadow box sides by scoring lengthwise at 1/2" and adhering this "hinged" strip to both the strips of chipboard and the large 12x12" background piece of chipboard, on all 4 sides, on both the outside AND inside of the shadow box.

I used 8- 2"x .5" strips to form the corners of the shadowbox to keep the sides from falling down. I scored these in half widthwise at 1", and then adhered them to all 4 corners on both the outside and inside of the shadow box.

Because the shadowbox was just a smidge smaller than exactly 12"x12", I had to cut about 1/8" from the edge of the backgroud paper all around for it to fit snugly.

I used my tim holtz distress tool to scuff up the edges of the background paper I chose.
I later on end up covering those anyway. LOL

I then used the acrylic paint dabber that came in the kit to add colour to my edges and paper in a random way. I sprayed some water on the paper using my mini mister to try and tone down the green-ish colour from the dabber. That didn't make much difference after the fact.

I used my Tattered Angels Hula Hoop glimmer mist to add some sheen to the background paper.

After adhering the background paper to the shadow box, I cut some strips of another paper that came in the kit to add to the edges of the shadow box on the inside edges. Then I used the same dabber to add some colour to the chipboard edges of the shadow box.

At this point, I still found the green dabber colour too vibrant for my tastes, so I took some gesso and added it randomly to the background paper to cover up some of the dabber colour.

I then used some of the modeling paste and the misting mask to add some texture to the background.
I figured since this was a shadow box, I should try to avoid making a "flat" layout.

Off camera, I used one of the polaroid frames that came in the kit, and framed an image of myself and some classmates from college "studying". The die cut title that came with the kit was perfect for this layout as it said "Hip 2 be square"!

Using my paper piercing tool, I made 2 holes at the top right corner of the shadow box so that I could use the twine and banners that came in the kit to make a little bannered corner in the box. :)

Because I wasn't a fan of the corners in the box as they were, I covered them up with some trim I had in my stash. It also added a lot of texture to the corners.

I layered some of the stickers that came in the kit onto some black cardstock, so that I could add even more visual dimension to the layout.

Because the layout was going to be so chunky, I added a pocket behind the polaroid framed photo so that I could add journaling to the layout afterward if I wanted to.

After laying the parts of my layout out on the background, I didn't like that my photo, embellishments and title were "floating", so I grounded it all with the same paper I used for the inside edges of the shadow box.

I used foam tape on the back of the photo to give it a raised look from the rest of the layout components.

And then I just finished off with some bling, flower and mini tile embellishments!

I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making this layout. It was my first shadow box layout and I hope it's not my last!

Please feel free to post your questions and comments, if you have any, and I'll be sure to get back to you ASAP!

Thank you all for dropping by!!

I'm going to be a Guest Tipster over at ScrapMuch?! (I'm honoured!)

No way! NO WAY!
Ahhh!

Okay, but seriously, all jokes aside, I am actually going to be a guest Tipster over on the ScrapMuch? blog next Wednesday, June 12th, 2013!

I know I didn't post about it here earlier, but I was part of the YouTube Layout Hop for May 2013, and I made a process video for it, featuring the June ScrapMuch? kit club kit! While it's a tad late to enter to win, we also had 2 sponsors last month since it was the YTLH's 2nd year anniversary! They were:

Kiwi lane Designs
www.Kiwilane.com
&
Leonora
www. craftytemplates.co.uk/scrapbookingkits.html

If you were reading this on time (Sorry!), what you would have needed to do, to have a chance at some winnings, is comment on each YTLH video and subscribe to all the YouTube participants' channels, after which a draw is done. The winner is drawn from the number of users who commented and subscribed as noted previously.

The ScrapMuch? team encourages their followers & subscribers to send in photos and info about their projects, that were inspired from or use the products that ScrapMuch? posts to their blog and/or sells!

I sent in my YTLH video link to them and lo and behold, they asked to share it with their members!

Thank you to the YTLH members who encourage me to get at least one layout done a month and thank you to the ScrapMuch? team for allowing me the opportunity to share my process with their followers/subscribers! I'm honoured and excited about this!

Please drop by my blog on June 12th, 2013 to check out the walkthrough of the process video that was posted for the May 2013 YTLH!

As always, your support, constructive criticisms and positive motivations are hugely appreciated!!! **HUGS**

Stuck in a rut...

It's been days since I felt craftily productive... It's as if my craftiness has been sucked out of me.
I'm scouring online to see what kind of productive crafty goal I can set for myself, but so far nothing has really grabbed my attention...
I think I may do a layout a day or something along those lines - we'll see what happens.
It's just a crappy feeling overall and I needed somewhere to express it, so here I am. LOL
Anyway...
