Not Craft Related, but Puppy Related!!

This is a somewhat important post...

I say somewhat, as my newest household menagerie addition, Jackson aka Jax, is now 6 months old as of June 27th, 2015.

Might not be a big deal to some, but to me it's a huge deal. Especially considering I never thought I would ever have a dog. Ever.

At 6 months old, he weighs in at just around 80 lbs. He stands a little over 2 feet tall at his head, and he's the biggest suck in the history of velcro lap dogs! LOL

For those who are unsure and wondering, well, what breed is he?  His previous owners (of a few weeks) mentioned that he's a St. Bernard and Mastiff cross breed. Also known as a St. Bermastiff. :)
I think they mentioned he also has Rottweiler in him, but other than his jowls not getting super droopy, there's little in terms of shape/size/traits to indicate any instance of Rottweiler.

I *do* have a DNA kit for him and hope to be able to send it in on his behalf one day soon. I was hoping to have it done by his 6th month birthday, but that didn't quite work out as planned.

Just some photos to share with my blog reading audience, because: Eye Candy. :D

How can one dog have so much cuteness built into him, I don't even know!!! LOL

Thanks everyone for dropping by. :)

Altered Cake Stacked Boxes

As a Youtube addict affectionado, I'm on there at least once a day - Even if it's just to "pretend" I'm watching something as I fall asleep. LOL

The other day, this video showed up in my feed... Not sure if it was on my homepage or actual feed, but regardless, I watched it, mesmerized with the beauty that came together.

While I don't have nearly as much floral embellishment variety, I did use what I had from my Prima Princess collection hoard stash and came up with my own take on the same thing. :)

I feel like my boxes were smaller than the ones used in the video - I also recorded some parts as I was working on it, so that should be up soon, but just thought I'd share the photos of the finished product since I just took them yesterday. :)

Thanks for dropping by!

Finnabair Inspired 12x12 Mixed Media Somewhat Steampunk Clock

Alright-y then...

Well here's something you don't see everyday... A Clock that I tried to make in steampunk style, but the olours got the best of  me. :P

This was originally the insert of a Graphic 45 12x12 shadow box... Looked something like this:

I only used the inside part of the box, and I added a handle to the top, and layered the whole thing up with white Liquitex gesso. So. Much. Gesso!

I had no idea where I was going with this at first, but it is definitely Finnabair inspired.
I lucked out on the clock; I was browsing my local Buy/sell board and found a "gear themed" clock for sale for $5.  Awesomesauce!

I used so many Creative Embellishments laser cut chipboard pieces and Prima resin pieces and Tim Holtz metals and so much more!

The whole clock!
Top Left corner flowering!
Bottom right corner clustering
TEXTURE! Everywhere!
Left side view for depth detail.
So this piece took me almost 2 full weeks to complete... Between the initial texturizing with mediums and gesso'ing and cutting that hole out for the clock, and waiting for layers to dry.... Well, you can see how it may take a long time, especially since I rarely have time to actually sit and use my heat gun to dry things - I'm usually working on artsy projects on my way to or from work, or on my way to or from doing something else.

I hope you were inspired, if even a little bit and that you come back again soon!

4 x 4 Graphic 45 Themed Coaster Mini Album

Although I don't have this anymore, as it was handed off to an awesome swap partner, I thought I'd share the details of it with you. :)

This is a 4x4 coaster mini album made with Graphic 45's botanical tea collection.

The first photo is of the cover, on which I fussy cut out the flower, bird & postage stamp. I also added a chipboard piece, a flower & some bling to it. :)

Close-ups of the front page to demonstrate the depth of layers

Here are photos of the first two pages of the album.

Left Page: I made a pocket out of a journaling spot that was on one of the cut apart sheets. I added a chipboard embellishment and a flower, as well as a title on the pocket that says "Hello Friend".

Right Page: I added a photo mat on top of a border strip I used in background. I added some bling to this page, as well as a title that says "Just Because".

The third and fourth pages of the album are seen here.

Left Page: I fussy cut a rose from one of the pages in the collection and used it as a spot to hold photo mats or journaling cards. I also added bling.

Right Page: I made another pocket out of another cut apart and used the same title "Hello Friend" to give the page a bit more "meaning". The pocket holds a bi-fold photo mat in it.

Up next are the 5th and 6th pages:

Left Page: Continuing the Hello Friend theme, you'll see I used the same title for this page. However, instead of having it on a pocket, it is above a photo mat.

Right Page: I fussy cut birds on a branch for this page as well as the postage stamp. Under the postage stamp, I actually used a heat fusible strip of bling that I added with my mini iron. :)

Almost done - Here are pages 7 and 8.

Left Page: For this page, I fussy cut one of the birds from one of the sheets in this collection and I added some more bling. This page was kept simple with just a photo mat on it.

Right Page: I fussy cut two postage stamps from the collection and used them to hold tags and/or photos and/or journaling spots.

Last pages on the inside!

Left Page: I first added a photo mat to this page. Then I added the die cut with the tea pot on it. I added tags behind it to show you could use it for tags, journaling or photos.

Right Page: I used more of that heat fusible bling on top of the pocket I made using cut aparts from the collection. I added bling to the page and put some photo mats/journaling spots in the pocket. :)

The back is nice and simple. :)

Thank you so much for dropping by!

I hope this has provided you some kind of inspiration.
