The Latest Colorful Creations Sketch Challenge is Now Live!

The Colorful Creations challenge that started on the 15th incorporates both a sketch and a color palette.

The sketch was a piece of cake to work with, but the colour palette made me a bit nervous...

The sketch
The colour palette
These colours were so NOT my colours - In order to remove the intimidation I was feeling with these colours, I decided to pick a couple for my main colours and try to incorporate other colours wherever I could.

I ended up with this layout:

As you can see, I used the red (Ablaze) and black (Tricorn Black) from the colour palette as my main colours.
Then for the embellishments, I brought in some of the pink (Lei Flower) and lime green (Lime Rickey) on the flowers, pearls and leaves.

I'm very happy that I was able to incorporate so many of the colours that originally cause me a tiny bit of panic when I saw them posted up for the design team. LOL

I hope this has helped in encouraging you to try a step-by-step process when it comes to incorporating certain colours on your layout!

I expect to see your take on this sketch and/or colour scheme on the Colorful Creations blog!!

Thanks for dropping by!!

Colorful Creations "Favorite Things" Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Colorful Creations My Favorite Things blog hop!  If you have arrived here from Michelle's blog welcome to the hop!! If you have stumbled across this by chance and want to play along then you can head back to the Colorful Creations site to start at the beginning.
Make sure to comment & follow my blog in order to be eligible to win the prize!

My name is Kerry McKenzie and here is my project showcasing my favorite things: layers and metals!  I have no idea why, but I love to feel LOTS of weight on my projects! Sometimes even to the point when I need to add chipboard as a backing to help support all the stuff I've added to it! I've found that layers and metals help me get this feeling of "WHOA, Loaded project coming through!" and so I've made them my favourite things about which to share as part of this blog hop!

For this blog hop, I've made a card.

It consists of 3 paper layers - including some layers of product packaging from Prima, a layer of Texturez paste from Shimmerz and a layer of cheesecloth from a RAK!!

The metals I included on this card include a 3-D bird cage, and a metal paper clip.

This is indeed a weight-y card, and I've had to add paper layers to the inside of it, in order to balance out the weight from the front of the card!  For those of you who are interested, this card weighs just over 30g. LOL

Here's a look at the card I made!

Thanks so much for joining us on the blog, make sure you hop on over to Connie's blog for more inspiration!

This card was made using the Cardabilities Sketch # 109 as inspiration  The sketch used for this card was:

Make sure you make Colorful Creations your last stop on the hop to see how to win the wonderful prize up for grabs!

Colorful Creations is Having a DT Call!!!

... And I'm going in head first! LOL

Not that I'm stalking the DT Calls being posted, but I just happened upon the DT call posted over at the Colorful Creations blog today!

Part of the entry was to create a blog post with a layout made using the sketch posted on their blog! I spent the evening after work, before dinner, working on it. At first when I was about to post it, I realized, I had forgotten my title. Silly me! But I went and fixed that up before posting it to my blog. :)

Seems pretty straightforward so far right?  Except that you had to make a layout using fall colours. :) Now, I'm not a colour theory expert or anything, but don't you think that the Prima PPP challenge this month calls for fall colours??

Yeah, so it's not just me, right? I thought so!!  In any case, I've included the layout and some close-up shots of the layout as well!  I hope you all enjoy!!

You may notice, the journaling I did is mostly lyrics to the song Razzle Dazzle, which is the part in the movie (Chicago), from which this photo was taken. I used the Prima Time Traveler's collection to create this layout, in addition to some Distress Paints, Tsukineko Brilliance inks and some lace that I had on my desk. :)

I greatly appreciate you stopping by to check out my work, and I hope to see you back again soon!
