Trying to Get Started with Christmas Cards

OK - I know the thought of Christmas for some is completely unacceptable, but I am trying to get myself ready for the season. :)

In saying that, I have created a couple cards based on the Freshly Made Sketches, Sketch #204.

I actually really liked this sketch, because my mojo was lacking pretty hard... But this simple sketch allowed me a starting point to whip something up relatively easily. :) I actually ended up making a few different cards with the same sketch, using Graphic 45's 12 days of Christmas collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Travelling Card Blitz, Card #3

So this is definitely a new thing: I'm posting a card blitz post and I'm not home! In fact I am more than 10 hours away from home (by car), but I made sure to bring my Flying Unicorn Small Art, Big Passion and Mixed Passion kits with me in case I had the opportunity to get my craft on!

I had that chance today and here are my cards made!

This one is made based on the card sketch over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:

I do apologize in advance for the photos as they were taken in the hotel room with little lighting.
This is the front of the card based on the sketch above

This is the inside of the card

Thanks so much for dropping by! Continue on to Card #1 or #2 from the Blitz, if you'd like; There are 3 cards that are part of this blitz!

Graphic 45 3x3 notecard sets with coordinating boxes

It's been a long while since I've done a project share just because I completed a project, but here is one for you!!

This project is actually two projects that consist of two similar card sets with coordinating boxes & envelopes, made for a swap which I'm a part of this holiday season.

There are 6 - 3x3 notecards, 2 sets of 3 and they are shown below:

The collection I used for this notecard set is called 'Twas the Night Before Christmas from Graphic 45.

I cut the stars and snowflakes out using my Silhouette Cameo, and the frames behind the snowflakes were cut from my Cricut Create; Fancy Frames cartridge.

The coordinating boxes were made using my WRMK envelope punch board, following the Youtube tutorial found here: Make a Box with the Envelope Punch Board with Deb Valder.
I decorated the boxes to look like presents and added a piece of chipboard to the front of each one.

I also made some envelopes to go with the notecards and those are included with the sets. :)

Hopefully this got your mojo going, even if it's just a little bit.

Early December Card Making Blitz, Card #5

For those of you who drop by on a semi-regular basis, you may know the drill by now.

I find a sketch, make a card based on the sketch, and post the result. :)

This card is based on the sketch over at Viva la Verve sketches!

My take on the sketch goes like this:

I'm aware the photo is crooked, but I kind of took these in a rush before work. They needed to be in the mail last week! LOL

Last card for a while...

This is the card that finished up the embellishments of the Studio Calico card kit for this month. :)

It was made based on the card sketch found over at House of Cards.

The card I made for the sketch, looks like this:

Thank you for dropping by!!

Once the December kit gets here, I'll get back to more card making if I don't find any more collections I need to kill beforehand. :)

Colorful Creations "Favorite Things" Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Colorful Creations My Favorite Things blog hop!  If you have arrived here from Michelle's blog welcome to the hop!! If you have stumbled across this by chance and want to play along then you can head back to the Colorful Creations site to start at the beginning.
Make sure to comment & follow my blog in order to be eligible to win the prize!

My name is Kerry McKenzie and here is my project showcasing my favorite things: layers and metals!  I have no idea why, but I love to feel LOTS of weight on my projects! Sometimes even to the point when I need to add chipboard as a backing to help support all the stuff I've added to it! I've found that layers and metals help me get this feeling of "WHOA, Loaded project coming through!" and so I've made them my favourite things about which to share as part of this blog hop!

For this blog hop, I've made a card.

It consists of 3 paper layers - including some layers of product packaging from Prima, a layer of Texturez paste from Shimmerz and a layer of cheesecloth from a RAK!!

The metals I included on this card include a 3-D bird cage, and a metal paper clip.

This is indeed a weight-y card, and I've had to add paper layers to the inside of it, in order to balance out the weight from the front of the card!  For those of you who are interested, this card weighs just over 30g. LOL

Here's a look at the card I made!

Thanks so much for joining us on the blog, make sure you hop on over to Connie's blog for more inspiration!

This card was made using the Cardabilities Sketch # 109 as inspiration  The sketch used for this card was:

Make sure you make Colorful Creations your last stop on the hop to see how to win the wonderful prize up for grabs!
