Long Time No See, Welcome to my August Prima PPP Entry! (Lots of Pics!)

A quick hello and a grateful thank you for dropping by to check out my entry into this month's Prima Product Picks Challenge.

Here is a summary tutorial with more detail on what I used and how it all came together. :)

Products:

• Creative Embellishments chipboard pieces
• Other chipboard pieces (unknown source)
• Golden Arts Light Molding Paste
• Golden Arts Seed Bead Gel
• "Generic" brand white gesso

Process:

1. Cut apart and glue down chipboard pieces to canvas
2. Paint with a couple coats of gesso
3. Stipple on molding paste to create small peaks
4. Add seed bead gel as desired
5. Paint with another couple coats of gesso

Products:

• Prima Finnabair stencil
• Prima color bloom sprays
• Liquitex Modelling Paste (not pictured)
• Many other sprays, at least 3 others (not pictured)

Process:

1. Use modelling paste with the stencil to create more
   background texture
2. Spray with shimmery colour sprays until desired
   colouring is achieved. :)

Products:

• Prima floral vine
• Prima large flower
• Prima small flowers
• Liquitex clear gesso (not pictured)
  - Get it? It's clear gesso. :P
• Other random flowers (source unknown)
• Stickles (not pictured)
• Wooden polaroid frame (source unknown)
• Lettering (multiple sources)

Process:

1. Add Prima vine
2. Add Prima large flower
3. Add Prima small flowers
4. Add chipboard pieces to the back of the wooden
   polaroid frame to add dimension
5. Use clear gesso on polaroid frame
6. Use all the same sprays and stickles on the frame
7. Adhere frame to the canvas :)
8. Add lettering as desired
9. Add all the other embellishments your heart desires

No filter - This is genuinely how bright the canvas is while hanging on my fence. :)

I clustered my flowers along the side of the canvas as well. :)

Prima Product Pick Challenge for May 2015

Haha!

So I *normally* do the Build a Page challenge, and I still might, but today I bring to you my entry for the Prima Product Pick challenge!

The inspiration photo was:

And yes, while the board does seem airy and light (and pink!), I took that airy and light mood board and grunged it right up! LOL

I made a somewhat springtime steampunk style ATC using base colours that were found on the mood board.

Products I used included:

- Prima Color Bloom Spray (Yellow Mustard)
- Prima 6x6 Stone Wall 1 Stencil

Prima Build a Page Challenge Entry, April 2015

Thank you to Keren once again for designing a sketch I can get behind for the Prima B-A-P challenge for April. :)

My take of the sketch was done on a wooden mini canvas.
I kept the tones monochromatic using red as my base.

I added 3 types of glitter and used paper and embellishments from the Prima Princess collection as well as a resin frame.

For the painted background, I used acrylic paint as well as modelling paste to give it more texture.  I feel like the texture isn't well captured in the photos here, and I will try to add another more textural photo for you to see. :)

I also feel like it's missing dark accents, but I'm not sure if I should just go with black or use red to compliment the monochromatic feel... It's one of those things that if I thought about it too long, I'd never consider this finished, so I stopped thinking about it, and I'm calling it done (for now).

Possibilities with Cardabilities!

Yes, I know the title is a little bit cheesy, but it's true!

I really enjoyed the sketch over at the Cardabilities blog for this month:

My take on the sketch went a little something like this:

You may or may not recognize the products used, but they are products that were in the Flying Unicorn September kit!  I'm really enjoying the Flying Unicorn kit and have almost finished going through all the papers... And you still end up with so much product left over! Such a great kit!

Life. Paper. Scrapbook. A double whammy entry.

This post is a little bit special for a few reasons - 

1. It's an entry into BOTH the Life. Paper. Scrapbook. challenges for the month of August
   

   Sketch Challenge
   Mood Board Challenge

   L. P. S. has shared that this is the last challenge for a little while (hopefully very little). :(

2. I'm pretty sure this is my first "real" mixed media canvas.
3. I've finally taken a bite into my BoBunny Enchanted Garden collection!

The sketch that I was trying to keep to was:

And the mood board that I sparked my Bobunny fire was:

See those purples and blues at the bottom? That's where I picked my main inspiration from. The colours in the palette on the bottom right of the mood board is what led me to go with the bottom colour palettes because the photos themselves have a lot of those right most palette colours! w00t!

Without further delay, here is my entry into these challenges!

Freshly Made in the knick of time!

Good thing I'm getting these entries uploaded today!  This challenge closes in less than an hour of this post being published! LOL

This challenge entry is made for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #149.

My card made for this challenge goes something like this:

If you happened to see my haul video from this month's kit, you may be aware that I got a sheet of acetate with it. As a result of receiving this acetate, I attempted to make a shaker card... In my opinion it was a #craftfail, but it was also my very first shaker card ever made.

I have a couple more variations of this gumball machine that haven't made it on to cards yet, but this was the first attempt.. /sigh

A CAS(E) challenge entry!

Yep, another post with another card into yet another entry using, yet again, the Studio Calico card kit from this month!

This card is an entry into the CAS(E) card sketch challenge #88.

My version of the sketch goes like this!

I fussy cut the shapes from one of the papers, and adhered it to the black background paper so as to provide a pop of colour to the otherwise quite dark background. The sentiment is taken from a sheet in the paper pad with a white background, and I used it because I liked the contrast. :)

Card Made for Retro Sketches Challenge #128

Lots of posts to be had today! Don't mind, I'm just plowing through my Studio Calico card kit for this month since it happens to already be just over a week until reveal night, which means I should be seeing my next kit in a couple weeks! Yikes!

The card that I made for this post was created as an entry into the Retro Sketches challenge over on the Retro Sketches blog!

Using the items in my SC card kit, I came up with something like this!

Now let me tell you how much I'm *not* a fan of sequins... But I am going through the whole kit and nothing but the kit as long as I have supplies to use. LOL

I don't think I've ever managed an entry into 4 challenges at once before, but here I go!

Let's Capture Our Memories Sketch #84 

This challenge is a sketch based challenge! I finished my entry into the challenge for sketch #83 a few hours earlier, and I'm really taking a liking to their sketches! I didn't rotate this sketch however!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #3

Although a relatively new challenge series, I figured with my mixed media kick in high gear, I would enter this layout into this challenge as well.  We were required to use stencils and pastes! I went ahead and used the Tim Holtz splatter stencil and mixed some modeling paste with some acrylic paint in order to give me coloured paste to use with the stencil!

Scrap It Girl August Challenge

The theme for the challenge over at Scrap It Girl, was arrows and #'s.  Both of which I have on my layout, so I thought it worked well as an entry into this challenge. :)

Pixels and Paper Challenge Blog

I think this may have been my first time using an image as my inspiration in addition to a sketch.  The image was super cute and as soon as I saw it, I thought primaries (i.e. primary colours). That's exactly why I chose to lay the layers of splatter down the way I did on a neutral background page.

And now, after all of the challenge introductions, here is my layout!

 

I think one of the reasons I so love the mixed media vibe, is that I'm using things I wouldn't use frequently enough otherwise. :) 

For example, on this layout alone, I used modeling paste, acrylic paint, a stencil, Silks shimmer paints, splattering techniques, ripped layered papers and just so much *stuff*. But not TOO much so that I can't put my layout in a page protector, but enough to give the page some dimension. I'm really digging it!!

Life. Paper. Action! Erm, I mean Scrapbook!

So, I may just be on a mixed media roll today...

I went from not really "feeling it" this afternoon, to churning out two MM layouts...
Mojo works in such weird ways, y'know?

This layout was made using the sketch that's part of the August challenge over at Life. Paper. Scrapbook. :)

I rotated the sketch to work with my landscape photos.

Going through this Studio Calico grab bag is going much faster than I anticipated. :P

Sketchabilities Scrapbook Sketch Layout Entry

I wonder how many of these posts I can get up today... Hmmm

Well in any case - This is my entry in to the Sketchabilities scrapbook layout sketch challenge #120.

And my take on it was...

Just going through my Studio Calico scrapbook kit and trying to get through as much as possible before next month's kit arrives!

I'm on a mission to scrapbook as many of my Facebook photos as possible, since they weren't part of my "to scrapbook" list... However what would happen if I were to ever not have access to Facebook anymore, y'know?  Anyway, this is a pic of my one and only car.

I love cars, and I was on the hunt for this very specific car for many months -with the exact specs I wanted, and when I got it, I didn't even test drive it... I just bought it. LOL

Anyway, that is all. :P
